The dreaming mind floats beyond its scaffolding of high windows. Here is the sleep and music of winter's thorns disputing with summer's rose. As the poet Philip Larkin says: "an only life can take so long to climb clear from its wrong beginnings, and may never". How we replay this narrative! - in the complexion of a brow and its clouds, and in "the sun-comprehending glass". (Text by David Rodway)
